RESTED & READY

It's Monday morning & after my day off yesterday I am rested & ready for a busy week ahead. My sons birthday party went well except for a 10 minute downpour. All the family were there but showing my usual restraint I only drank water so the head is clear this morning.

Shergar Cup Day was a success for Ascot so I might have to take back my words & cheer it on. There was a crowd of 30,000 with a lot of families & it was enjoyed by all. The going was good & there was amusements & a band to entertain the crowd. It was not so successful for us bookmakers we lost on the day. a very smart man came up to me and asked my opinions about Ascot & its facilities. Being myself I didn't hold back & told him as I saw it especially my one about lack of toilet facilities. It's only after I saw his photo in yesterdays paper that I realised that I had been ranting at the new guvnor Charles Barnett. Well he obviously wanted a straight opinion when he asked me.

Later on I was at Lingfield. The sons had a good night there last week as you can see from the photo so I was there myself Sat to keep minds on the work! The crowd was good as usual. I don't know who the band was but I did not rate them. I thought even I could do better mind you I only heard them for about 8mins while I was packing up. maybe there is a new career opportunity for me a a tribute singer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To-day I am going to watch the last day of the cricket & for once I am cheering on India. England is playing rubbish & is an embarrassment to be one of their most ardent supporters. As I write this England is 71-0 & have a target of 500. If they make it I will eat my words in the morning.

The Bismarck is on a roll at the moment & to-days Bismarck is Down the Brick in the last race at Windsor this evening. The last couple of Mondays at Windsor have been disappointing but hopefully good weather will bring a crowd out to-night,
The first wicket has just gone Strauss for 32 I don't know if I can bear to watch.
